QUOTE OF THE DAY

War! - huh- yeah-
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Uh-huh………

Ohhh… War! I despise
Because it means destruction’
Of innocent lives

War means tears
to thousands of mothers eyes
When their sons go to fight
and lose their lives……

The song "War" is written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong in 1969 for Motown Records. It’s an anti-Vietnam War protest, with The Temptations as the original vocalists. After Motown began receiving repeated requests to release "War" as a single, Whitfield re-recorded the song with Edwin Starr as the vocalist. Starr's version of "War" was a number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1970. It is one of the most popular protest songs ever recorded. Its power was reasserted when Bruce Springsteen took his rendition into the Top 10 in 1986. (Source: WIKIPEDIA). You can find the full lyrics of the song HERE.

In 1998, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker resurrected this song in their movie Rush Hour. Here’s a clip of the song from the movie.
